I know it's at the bottom of the solar cycle but something unexpected happened. Was monitoring ten meter usb when propagation to South America was just right to make many contacts.Over the last two day's made over firty confirmed contacts. My favorite was the Galapagos Islands that was a stand up and cheer moment.Good radio wave propagation at the right time can bring some amazing fun results.Heard nothing on six meter (magic band) looking forward a couple year's for more sunspot's.During the past solar cycle had a few USA contacts best was to Japan. Was late getting on the band last cycle.I'am more prepared for the cycle 24. 2007 ARRL V-UHF CONTEST Six meter ssb was very quiet made one local contact and one rover station. 2008 ARRL International DX(Phone)Contest Good propagation on ten meter over the past two days to South America.Confirmed twenty contacts. There were many stations on the air. 2008 Memorial Day Weekend This weekend there was a state side six meter sporadic-E opening to the north and northeast and east made many new contacts for me from my location.Talked to three lady amateurs which is a first for me,making there first time contacts on six meters usb. This weekend there was a state side ten meter sporadic-E opening to the north and northeast and east made many new contacts for me from my location.Talked to two lady amateurs which is a first for me, making there first time contacts on ten meters usb.Mobile contacts on ten meters is a first for me. 2008 ARRL V-UHF Contest Soon after the noon hour on the first day a few six meter ssb local stations in the county and outside started calling.Later on in the evening was talking to other states in the U.S. Started hearing Canada and Mexico around dusk. The second day was more active talked to many more US states.I'am not a six meter ssb contester, made contacts with amateurs who where contesting. The highlight of the weekend was two contacts to Baja California on six meter ssb. This year was much better do to Sporadic E openings. 2008 Field Day This year was much better than last. Was able to make many more contacts due to better radios and antennas.Ten meter ssb propagation not to good, had eight contacts farthest was canada.Six meter ssb propagation not good at all, only a few local contacts. Two meter fm only seven local contacts farthest was university of california. 2009 Field Day This year made alot of contacts on HF-VHF-UHF.My favorite this year is my first contact with a astronaut aboard the international space station.Astronaut Robert Thirsk VA3CSA Payload Specialist from Canada. 2009 I.A.R.U. HF WORLD This is my first time to participate during I.a.r.u. world.Started on 20 meter ssb made lots of contacts around the world.First time ever contact with Taiwan also recieved a great looking qsl card on 20 meters. Then went to 40 meter ssb.First time ever contact with New Zealand on 40 meters. Then went to 75 meter ssb.Not a first time contact with Asiatic Russia on 75 meters,my third ever contact was made with a few minutes left to a asiatic russian amateur radio headquarter station. Also made contacts with a Alaska and Hawaii amateur radio headquarters stations...Thanks to all amateur radio participates world wide for a great time.
